H.E. Mari Elka PangestuMinister of Tourism and Creative Economy of The Republic of Indonesia
Mari Elka Pangestu was appointed as Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy in October 2011. She obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Australian National University, and her Doctorate in economics from the University of California in 1986. Prior to becoming Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, she served as the Minister of Trade. She was program coordinator for the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC), grouping 23 member economies within the region. She is involved in numerous economic studies in Shanghai, China.
